UNILAG’s championship run began in Round 2, after they edged Landmark University 1–0 to secure their semifinal berth. In the semis, they faced a determined Bells University side who had just upset PAU by a 2–1 margin. UNILAG held firm, eking out a narrow 2–1 victory that set up their showdown with Covenant. Across the bracket, Covenant earned their spot in the final by defeating Babcock University 1–0 in Round 2 and then Caleb University 2–1 in the semifinals.
